When mapping a solar farm, any kind, small to absolutely massive, should each row of panels get outlined with a rectangle, and labeled "power generator", or should the whole area fall under a single area? asked 20 May '15, 00:34 Sarr_Cat |
Both if possible. But likely the As Hendrikklaas said, it is useful to read the wiki pages: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:power=plant , https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:power=generator , https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:generator:source=solar answered 21 May '15, 01:05 aseerel4c26 ♦ |
Hi Sarr_Cat, Take a look here, http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/35.0143/-117.5559 and read the Solar pages in the Wiki & solar power, http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?search=solar&title=Special%3ASearch&go=OK The Californian power generator is several areas large and tagged as is, an area with solar panels, so tag yours the same way. You could however tag the rows and panels as well separatly if you get a change to map them thoroughly. answered 20 May '15, 17:13 Hendrikklaas Looking at the example I am surprised it is solar & thermal surely it should be one or the other? but I may be wrong again!

You failed to answer the question, i.e. whether to tag each panel individually or all together and why. Just for the sake of completeness, here is an example of individually tagged panels.
