I would take a look at highway=raceway to start, since we're talking about motorsports.

Yes, ok I reckoned this. But what else? sport=karting or any other tag?

There are 70 uses of sport=karting, 10 of sport=carting, 6 of sport=gokart, 5 of sport=kart, 4 of sport=go-kart, 3 of sport=kart_racing, 2 of sport=gocart, 1 of sport=go_karting, 1 of sport=carts, 1 of sport=cart_racing, 1 of sport=go-carts and a few other rare combinations. So I'd say sport=karting and a new entry on the wiki page for key=sport it is.

I have found out that for rendering purposes it is advisable to add area=no when using the sport tag on raceways. Otherwise the raceway will not be rendered as a way any more.

Adding area=no is no longer necessary
