I am trying to generate images that would look something like this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Blank_maps#/media/File:North_america98.svg I read a few wiki articles and installed Maperitive, but I am confused. The problem is that OSM data is very detailed. Even if you filtered the world coastlines from OSM it would still be too much data to load into Maperitive.
