How can I validate where the image information comes from? I would like to use an image in court and need to provide accreditation.

Please give us more details. Are you asking about satellite imagery ? In this case which one ?

satellite imagery from bing.com. image traces back to this site.

You would need to ask Bing for that. OSM only has satellite imagery for the purposes of editing the map, not for displaying to end-users.
