In Australia the format is something like either 12, 12A,12B,12C,12D,12E (Not 12 alone, in capital letters only, for multi-storey units or 12F or more instead, use 1/12, 2/12, 3/12, etc) for units with ground level strata ownership or separation. For multi-storey units i can't remember the specifics. Also for Australian numbering according to the guideline standards I read (I will put a link if I find it), there is no such thing as number ranges.
See: [AS NZ Rural and Urban Addressing Standards Draft][1]
It is also different formatting for different land uses in Australia Office/Commercial, Versus Shop/Retail and Residential, Rural and Industrial :(
So in the end my comment has little relevance [1]: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29846412/Mapping/DR%20AS%20NZS%204819%20Rural%20and%20urban%20addressing.pdf
