This is how I did it!! Uploading free Garmin maps to GPS • * Make sure Basecamp is not open • * Use www.freizeitkarte-osm.de or equivalent. • * Double click and install as a zip file in desktop on the appropriate map for Basecamp • * Right click on the installed zip file and ‘extract’ • * Double click on the installed, extracted file which will send it to Basecamp • * Open Basecamp and connect gps via usb cable • * Right click on SD card User Data • * Install maps • * Choose appropriate map which is already in Basecamp NB each of these steps can take quite a while so have something else to do while these massive files are uploading. I bough an 8Gb micro SD card (Sandisk) class 10 with adapter from www.amazon.fr for 12 € and downloaded the whole of France, Spain, Italy and the UK in an afternoon and still have about 4GB of space left on the card!
