EEA lets us reuse their content. Does their general license apply to GIS data called "CDDA boundaries 2009, vector shape file format", provided as a download at this page? At the bottom of that page they say "Copyright has to be mentioned for Estonia, Germany and Slovenia". Does that mean a more precise attribution for data of these countries is needed than "EEA" only? Maybe to attribute some German environmental agency from which the data originate - probably Federal Agency for Nature Conservation - BfN. Or does the data remain totally copyrighted and thus unusable in OSM? |

The "Copyright has to be mentioned for ..." statement sounds like a licence like CC-BY. We always give attribution in the source tag, however we do not require that attribution to be shown in derrivitave products. The most important thing is that it is easy to track back to a source. However you should ask the EEA and not us. It is much easier to ask for permission then to pay the fine and having to revert the changes. |
