When I tag a bus stop it appears immediately in View mode, while a bus route takes some time. Why?

also it would be nice if share_taxi routes would be rendered.

The main layer have a quite powerfull server rendering the tiles and can for the most part keep up with the speed of editing. The transport map and cycle map are provided by Andy Allan and does not have the same power.

How long? I've had some recent experience with this and found it consistently takes about 3 days before a bus route shows in the transport layer.

Why the difference? As per the previous answer, because those particular maps are rendered externally by individuals and groups who are generous enough to volunteer technical expertise, hardware, and bandwidth. I can imagine this all comes at a cost, and if they could speed things up they would.

I'd encourage you to investigate tiles@home - a system where you can donate your computer's spare time to render osmarender map tiles. This will give you an appreciation of the resources and bandwidth needed to keep our maps rolling out fresh.

You can find out more about tiles@home here, but it has nothing to do with the transport map which uses Mapnik instead.

In my experience, changes in bus routes were visible in about 1-2 days.

Sorry I might not have made myself clear. tiles@home has nothing to do with the transport map, but IMO is a good way for ordinary contributors to gain insight into how tiles are rendered, and hence why there are delays.

Not to mention clearing browser cache, of course. ;-)
