Why are roads disjointed when at a particular zoom level?

1

After I edited and added some roads, they appear great while zoomed out, but as you zoom in they look like they have been cut and are offset. Then when I try and correct it, everything appears fine in the edit window.

Believe what the editor (or the "data view") tells you. Everything else - the map view - is a potentially time-delayed representation, and what you see on the map may not longer be the case.

I assume that in your case, someone else has repaired the problem, but the map has not updated yet.

See "How often does the main mapnik map get updated?" for a detailed explanation of the map update process.

Nor all zoom levels are updated at the same time. If your road crosses a tile edge and the next tile is still to be rendered then there could be a disjointed appearance until they all catch up with each other. When you go back to your edit window you are seeing the information before it is all fully rendered.
