Hello, I am using the potlatch 2 with Mozilla Firefox to edit areas in central Switzerland, eg. city Cham. What I noticed is, that the map does not seem to correctly superimpose the sattelite map. Everything is shifted a little bit, so no building or street exactly fits the position on the sattelite map. I checked then for other cities like Geneva or Vienna. There I get the map and the sattelite images correctly alligned, so I wonder what the problem is.

If editing with Potlach2 and if you click on gps traces and your traces so that you have several traces for you to check the image against,Then if you are sure there is a misalignment you can hold down the spacebar and then drag the background to improve things

The alignment of imagery relies on the provider of the imagery aligning it correctly. If you have GPS traces to confirm it isn't the data in OSM that is wrongly aligned, then it is possible to tweak the position of the background images.

I would like to point out that the issues with alignment (and missing) Bing imagery in central and northern Switzerland have been discussed more than once on the Swiss OSM mailling list (and on the corresponding forum), see

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:WikiProject_Switzerland

It makes far more sense to discuss local problems on your corresponding local list than here.
