I am using Ubuntu Linux 10.10. If I try to edit maps with Potlatch2 I get the message "You need Flash to use Potlatch. You can download it from Adobe here" (or something like that). However when I click "here" - I get a message "Flash is already installed" (or something like that). What on earth is going on here???? |

The easy fix is to use Chrome in Ubuntu: for heavy Ajax/Flash it is much faster than Firefox. I usually use Firefox, except for all mapping applications: Geoportail, Google maps, OSM, Vttrack, Visugpx... |

Ubuntu comes with the open source flash player gnash. It does not have support for Action Script 3 that Potlatch 2 is written in. (lightspark have support for Action Script 3 but fails to run Potlatch 2.) You can confirm this by starting a flash program (like youtube) and right click. If the menu does not say Adobe Flash you are running the gnash plugin. On my setup I got it running by uninstalling gnash and installing flashplugin-installer. 2
Thanks. I uninstalled gnash and everything is now working fine. Adobe flash was already installed - so I presume gnash was set as the preferred application and as soon as it was removed adobe flash took over.

I have a similar problem: My browser gets to the potlatch loading screen, but hangs at 100%. I have the proper flash installed. I tried in three different browsers, and it didn't work in any of them, so I reckon the problem must be elsewhere. I'm also on Ubuntu 10.10. Newest Adobe Flash installed.
