Hi, I have created a changeset (connected a road) https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/145416957 However it still doesnt show on the OSM map https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions#map=17/51.48065/-117.36652 Am I missing something? Should someone approve it? Thanks! asked 22 Dec '23, 19:16 LionWheel |
Yes, routing apps take longer to update, often a week or more..
Their update policy is normally advised in the app or website. answered 23 Dec '23, 07:19 nevw Thank you, but please note that the routing above is based from OSM, so I guess it should update right away.. no?

All routing calls from the OSM website are done by third parties - it will take a few days.

No approval is necessary. As long as the changeset was uploaded without errors, you should see it in a few moments. More complex uploads, for example modifications to a large multipolygon, might take a few hours but eventually, they too will appear in the OSM slippy map. Another exception is if you add an object that isn't currently being rendered on the slippy map. This is because some items simply are too little used to warrant the development required to render them. Dave answered 23 Dec '23, 00:23 AlaskaDave |
Hi, Both your links show the 3 highways joined by the node you moved to connect them. I would think that if you still cannot see the joined up highways your webpage needs refreshing or reloading. Regards Bernard. answered 23 Dec '23, 06:50 BCNorwich |
Hi, Go to your routing link. If you move your green starting pointer a little bit at a time towards the junction you should see a change when the pointer moves across the stream, like here:- https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions?engine=fossgis_osrm_car&route=51.48092%2C-117.36739%3B51.47920%2C-117.36320#map=17/51.48007/-117.36429 This would suggest that the stream might influence the routing. Imagery suggests the stream should be culverted under the highway. One other problem I saw when looking at this area is that the route relation, Trans-Canada 1 (BC westbound: mainland) needs amending to accommodate the new road section. Regards Bernard. answered 23 Dec '23, 08:17 BCNorwich Thank you BCNorwich - indeed you really narrowed down the issue with the stream: https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions?engine=fossgis_osrm_car&route=51.48118%2C-117.36818%3B51.48092%2C-117.36747 However even after setting the section above the stream as a bridge, the routing still doesn't allow to go through this section. Any idea what can it be? Thank you!

Hi, I can't see anything else that may be a problem. I've tested both east and west routes in JOSM, (which uses the OSM current data directly) and both directions route as expected. As Dave said it's sometimes a while before some things are updated on the OSM slippy map. So maybe patience for a few days and fingers crossed all will be well. I'll look at this again in a few days.

Thank you AlaskaDave and Bernard - I indeed see that change now as well (probably browser cache issue) However, although the road seems to be connected on the map now, routing still keeps on skipping the connected new road: https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions?engine=fossgis_osrm_car&route=51.4887%2C-117.3869%3B51.4792%2C-117.3632#map=15/51.4811/-117.3738 Any idea what can it be? Maybe something I haven't updated well? Thank you! answered 23 Dec '23, 07:05 LionWheel You should now find the link routes properly in the 3 routing options in OSM front page.
