Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

Hello,

I'm new to OSM and i want to ask, if I can i use an image of a OSM chart with additional personal information in a paid iPhone app, if i refer to OSM and add the information, that the base of this map is OSM ??

Thanks a lot for your help

The simple answer is yes. Make sure that you are not breaking the tile usage policy if you are using map tiles from the osm server (other map tile providers may have different policies).

If you make derived data from our map (like a user marking a point on the map) the users are not allowed to distribute this data under any other licence. The users are not forced to distribute the data (like GPL) and as it seems is your case they will probably not do this.

Please use the search function of this site and have a look for key words like commercial, iphone, app, private ... maybe you find hints there.
