How do I enable Edit with Remote Control … on a Mac?

0

I typically use Safari to edit. Yes, I know that only supports the basic editor. If I wish to edit using Firefox again, how do I use the other method? I do not know if I have either downloaded or remote control is enabled. I might have edited last year using this method the first time before several updates to my OS X. I likely need instructions on what to download and how to enable remote control since things changed. Today is the first day that I opened Firefox this year. I have no preference which I download. Help please

I don't recall the exact setup as it has been so long since I did it. But I do know that I can’t make the remote control work with Safari. It works as intended with Firefox.

If I happen to be in Safari and decide I want to edit the area I am looking at at OpenStreetMap, I have two options:

1) With the developer tools in Safari use the "Open Page In . . ." to open the area in Firefox. Then use the "Edit with remote control".

2) Copy the URL that Safari is looking at, get everything including the zoom, latitude, and longitude. In JOSM, use the "Open location" feature and paste the URL in.

I generally use the latter method as you need JOSM open for the edit with remote control to work anyway. So the second method is simply a command-C on the URL then command-Tab to get to JOSM, command-L in JOSM to open the "Open Location" dialog box, and finally a command-V to paste the URL in. Once practiced this series of keystrokes is pretty quick and automatic.
