Is there any way to print a map with strong, intense colours directly from the openstreetmap.org website? The standard colours look okay on a screen but just come out as grey and green blurs when printed on paper. I have previously converted a map by using a flood-fill in Gimp to change areas (e.g. forests) to stronger colours, but there must surely be a better way. I've looked around for information but most seems to just give long lists of downloadable executables that I could try, some of which may or may not work. Others suggest that I'd have to change all the pixels using ImageMagick. Is there any solution to this, either available now or being worked on? Thanks! asked 12 Mar '23, 20:12  eisw |

Other options: If you insist on using only the OSM web site, try the Colors->Curves menu in GIMP which lets you apply conversions to the color spectrum and might yield acceptable results. Otherwise, try print.get-map.org where you can choose from a number of map styles and export a region of your choice in high resolution. answered 12 Mar '23, 21:35  Frederik Ramm ♦ |
The short answer to you question is "no". What I'd suggest is that you use an external program, perhaps Maperitive to do this, and maybe "finish" the results in a graphics program to tune colours and fill etc. answered 12 Mar '23, 20:58  SomeoneElse ♦ |
