OpenStreetMap can be edited by anyone, and that includes deleting places. Just log in, select the object, and choose "delete".

When saving your changes, be sure to explain the reason for the deletion (e.g. "XY hotel has closed, there is now a private residence") so that people can see that you know what you're doing.

Attention: Sometimes you do not want to delete the whole thing but just an aspect of it. For example, if a hotel has an address, and stops being a hotel, then it still is a building and still has an address! Deleting the hotel outright would lose this address information - in such a case you would just remove the "hotel" aspect (or, in OSM parlance, the tourism=hotel tag and any additional stuff about rating, website, contact details) and not the whole object.
