I have coordinates (latitude/longitude) in gg.gggg,gg.gggg format. how can I position the map at these coordinates?

To solve your problem get to this link is the permanent link in the bottom right corner of the screen is the easiest way to position coordinates.

If you mean the map on osm.org use this url with your coordinates:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=12.345&lon=12.345&zoom=17&layers=M

The easiest way to get to this link is the permanent link n bottom right corner of the screen...
