I have a big gpx file with more than 3300 tracks, which I want to upload to the OSM server. The data are completely free. The size is about 18 MB (as Zip File 2 MB).

Can I upload this one file? If yes, is there any problem for the users they want to edit the tracks.

Or is it better to split the gpx file into 3300 single files?

You would probably be better off splitting the file. You probably can upload a big file but there might be problems that can cause the file to be rejected, and then you might have to upload it again. There is also limited processing power to distribute so uploading a big chunk at once might cause gpx uploading to slow down for everyone.

The upload as zip file works, the file was not rejected. But I think for editing the tracks it's better to upload as single files...

but: I search a software which can split the > 3300 tracks into multiple files?

The only software I found was here http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/forerunner/

but it dosn't work with such a big gpx file....

Does anyone know a software which can do this job?

thx, Alf

GPSBabel is the Swiss Army Knife of GPX manipulation. It can be complex but it can do pretty much anything you can throw at it.
