While reading the fascinating book Grande Sertao of the Brasilian author J.G. Rosa, I want to make a map of the travels of its main character. But of course I do not want to change the public maps of OSM. Can I copy maps to a private part and add the data of the book to it?

Thank you very much, TZorn and H_mlet, for your quick answers. I found uMap and will try it.

The easiest way to do this is using uMap. I've done something similar for the Rivers of London book series.

Be sure to log in or be extra sure you've saved the edit link somewhere so you can update it later.

Definitely looking at the Rivers of London map later.

uMap is great.

Facilmap might be nice too, as it's easy to save routes (following current roads) as well.
