Will it be a privacy violation if we add fully detailed residential addresses of others ?

There are many houses that don't have their addresses in their building features so just wanted to add them.

If you're an Android user, StreetComplete is great for addresses of the buildings are already traced.

It definitely isn't a privacy violation to add addresses. Adding addresses is a great way to contribute because this is an area that's generally lacking in many regions. Addresses are necessary for people to find houses, send mail, etc., and are usually meant to be publicly-visible, so there's nothing wrong with adding them in OSM. They wouldn't work very well if they were private and kept from the public eye. :)

You shouldn't any personally-identifiable information, though. For example, you shouldn't tag a house with the name "Joe's house", or add a tag like owner=Joe Smith. Stick to the unit, house number, street, city, or any other relevant address info, and you should be fine.

Just to be clear:

  • building addresses (house number etc) are OK and matter of fact very much wanted.
  • personal addresses, that is personal name + other information: please not, if such information is added it will be deleted.

There is one exception, if the building has a visible name sign. That should/could be edit as well, is not it ?

If the building is named or there is a business that uses the proprietors name then, maybe, yes. But not simply the personal names of the inhabitants.
