Temporal data

I am interested in getting data on when different entities were constructed or become operational. For example, when was a specific road built or opened for traffic?

If there is no such direct data, maybe OSM has some historical archive from which I will be able to infer those dates

Thanks a lot!

In general you should look in Wikidata. OHM has more "older" history than recent roads.

OSM has historic data but that will only tell you when something has been added to OSM, not when something has been built. As a trivial example, looking at the 2005 archive data would tell you that there wasn't a single building on the planet.

Some mappers record information on when something has been built, usually in the "start_date" tag, but you will find this relatively rarely used. There's also http://openhistoricalmap.org/ which, unlike OSM, aims to also record things that have ceased to exist.
