I know how to tell JOSM to discourage upload of a whole layer, but is there a way of marking a specific element as being temp/bad geometry that shouldn't be uploaded?

I'm currently retracing some buildings and would like to mark the unconflated traces and boundary of the old poorly traced areas as something that shouldn't be uploaded until they have been merged/deleted.

  1. Add a personal tag in them to upload all selected excluding them? You may have issues with referrals and conflicts in any case. For comparison from my workflow, to-do list needs to save the list separately. I find it more convenient to do this in each file, using the to-do list for each session.
  2. Discourage upload on the editing layer, moving ready objects to a separate allowed upload layer?

I'm currently doing a combination of these but would like a way to accident proof them.
