I have repeatedly found that the fit between older and newer aerial photos is not accurate. Because of this, previously drawn objects appear slipped on the replaced map slice. That should be paid more attention to this, because this never to know which version is/was correct.

This is unfortunately an issue we cannot do much about, having to rely on "donated" material. I have even found aerial images where the alignment changed from zoom level to zoom level.

It is good practice to align aerial images either with existing map objects (in already well mapped areas) or with several GPS traces. All major editors have functions to adjust the position of the background images.
