I tag quite a lot of pram ramps on highway=steps, but it doesn't come up in Potlatch simple interface. This isn't normaly a problem for me but sometimes it would be nice to just check a checkbox for this. Same thing when I'm mapping house numbers (which I really dread), the simple interface would be nice.

So how do I do this?

(PS if you say compile your own potlatch! I will down vote)

Not quite "compile your own Potlatch" but "post a nice helpful Trac ticket explaining what you want to do". Please explain exactly what tag behaviour you want - the Potlatch developers don't follow the ins and outs of tagging religiously (life is too short :) ).
