I have uploaded a collection of GPS traces with visibility as TRACKABLE but they didn't show up in iD editor (with GPS layer active).

So I went back over some of them and switched them to PUBLIC and some to IDENTIFIABLE. However they did not show up even after waiting hours. (I already noticed similar thing before, but i was having doubts)

  • What I am doing wrong? Traces that were uploaded directly as IDENTIFIABLE are shown in just few minutes.
  • I would ask for anyway to fix visibility without re-uploading them? May be ask an admin.

I don't think that you are doing anything wrong. Unfortunately, I don't think that changing a trace's visibility will make it appear (or disappear) from iD's traces later. See here.

So it is a kind a bug, is in OSM itself, OSM API or iD interface?

Two choices 1) upload the same trace again as public. 2) with iD running open a second window on the file where the GPX is stored and just drag the gpx file name into the id window. both work for me.

Seems no way for me other then re-uploading them. The second way, iD drag-drop, it shows only that GPS trace but i want to see all for imagery alignment and sharing them too with others. Thank you.

Uploading the traces is, I think the best solution, it only takes a few minutes and they are there for all to use. The drag and drop solution can be suitable for small updates.
