When you say "a map", do you mean points superimposed on a base map on your own website, or actually adding the data to the main OpenStreetMap database?

I think this kind of "batch upload" is feasible for experts, through dedicated tools, but OSM is mostly a "basic-user-fed" database with... basic users like me and online editors ;-) I'd say maybe you should start familiarizing a bit with conventional edition (tagging, naming items etc.) but if you want to enter lots of data at a time others will better tell. Also, you can directly ask on the OSM IRC channel, irc://irc.oftc.net:6667/#osm
