When I view my local golf course I see all of the holes laid out in their present form, However, when I zoom in, the golf course shows the old configuration of holes. They changed the landscape dramatically in some areas and the shape of the course and the hole layouts. I want to add details to the holes and such but dont want to do it on the old layout? Is there something that needs to be done to update the zoom levels with new imagery?

Well, if you are not in the editing-mode on osm.org you can go to the zoom-level where its wrong rendered and try pressing SHIFT while leftclicking reload in the browser. For some reason it did not work for me with SHIFT-F5, just when pressing with the mouse.

What happens is, the browser clears the cache and pulls new data from the server. Maybe that helps - but you have to do it in every zoom-level individually.

That's what I was about to suggest but looking closer at the issue I think Stanford is not referring to the rendered map but to the aerial images. There haven't been any recent significant changes to the mapping that could not render.

I checked again and yes, it seems you might be correct.

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do to get updated imagery. We take what is granted to us for free use.

But you can try to use a different image provider. In the in-browser editor iD you can change the imagery via the layer selector (three stacked layers icon on the right hand side). Maybe you find more recent imagery on lower zoom levels there.
