OpenStreetMap.org switch from Search to Route

On the main page OpenStreetMap.org:

This is really annoying, because this is the workflow everyone is used to and it wasn't broken a few month ago.

Am i the only one annoyed by this behavior?

The issue is being discussed at the relevant github repository, as part of a larger redesign. Please chip in there if you wish.

If you are sure it was working before, you might want to create a specific issue, searching for the regression.
