Why arresting gear (a cable that crosses runway) can be mapped as a node only? I would expect its default as a way.

It's a simplification. As the runway is most of the time only mapped as a line (not an area) it wouldn't add much value to map the arresting gear as a line. It simply denotes the point on the runway where the aircraft gets in contact with the gear.

Where a runway is mapped as an area I wouldn't see a problem in turn mapping the gear as a line, though.

Hi its justed like a crossing or zebra, there is one node too, even if the road (way) has several lanes. But above all the Wiki gave you the same answer, it is just one node.
