Hi, I have been trying to find the background imagery date for particular tiles in Afghanistan. I have tried "Show tile info" in JOSM and Command+Shift+B in OSM to get the metadata information but it does not contain the imagery date. I have also clicked on "Show Tiles" in OSM but the tiles say "Vintage Unknown". Is there any other way to find this information?

Thanks in advance.

As you do not give any indication of which background imagery you are referring to, it isn't posibble to give you a concrete answer other than to point out that only Bing provides an API to determine dates for tiles from their mosaic. Naturally individual, non-mosaic sources will typically have a date associated for the whole layer, which you can find on josm.openstreetmap.de
