Hi!

We've created a mobile app "TravelBoast", which is generating a video for instagram. On the video any kind of transport moves on the map. The map which was choosen is OpenStreetMap. Will it be enough if we put hyperlink to the OpenStreetMap here(in the preview window)?

Example of the video, which is generated by the App: https://youtu.be/TUIUY1SORw8

As H_mlet says, every viewer of the map/video should be able to view the attribution. Same disclaimer: I am not a lawyer.

Better attribution is "Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors", or if it can't be a link (e.g. if you impose it on the video in the bottom left) then something like "Map © OpenStreetMap.org contributors" would be great. You can read more at https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright

If the attribution isn't within the video, then anyone posting it to Instagram etc would be obliged to include attribution in their post text. As the video creator I think there is strong obligation (morally/legally) to tell them that requirement, or make it simple by putting it in the video.

Personal note: It looks like a really cool and very useful app. If it was available on Android, and gave attribution, I would be installing it now!

Hello,

I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure the point of the attribution part of the licence is that every user (viewer) of the map knows where it comes from.

So no, you have to put the attribution in the video. Either near the flag always, or fullscreen in the last seconds. By the way the correct attribution is more like : "Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors".

Regards.
