Hello all,

I want to add the feature class/object type "bike resting-place" (any suggestions for a better name?), which should be shown on the cyclOSM or Cycle map layer. My intentions are to improve the visibility of such places (usually consisting of a bench, bin, drinking water, etc.) for bikers along bike tracks.

Is there a way to "suggest" or simply add this to the polygon objects?

Sorry for my bad English, hope you understand my question ;-)

Thanks!

Is there anything special about a "bike resting place" opposed to general resting places?

I'm not aware of a specific tag for such area. But there are a lot of tags available for sites or the ojects, e.g.

tourism=picnic_site
leisure=picnic_table
amenity=drinking_water
amenity=bench
amenity=table
amenity=waste_basket
amenity=bicycle_repair_station
amenity=bicycle_parking

There was some discussion about this recently on the tagging mailing list: http://gis.19327.n8.nabble.com/Highway-rest-area-on-bicycle-or-foot-routes-td5981365.html

Hi, do you expect a place to be a or offer a loading station for tired bikes ? You might consider TOP with loading yes. Touristic Start (Opstart) Point, parking included.

Thanks for your help TZorn, alan_gr and Hendrikklaas!

It seems like the best way would be to classify the area as picnic_site and then include the amenities.
