Relations to Hiking Routes

0

I'm loading trails which are linked to a Hiking Route. How do I ensure that they load to a particular relationship number? iD seems to take their name, but I can't find the relationship number until after I've posted.

[Slightly simplified] Routes are modelled in OSM as a list (the Relation) of ways (for example a trail segment).

To add a way to an existing Route relation in iD:

  • select the way
  • in the pane on the left hand side, go right to the bottom (that is to the "Relations" section) and click the "plus" button. That will offer you existing Relations in the vicinity* or allow you to create a new one.

* I don't believe there is currently an easy way to access a Relation that doesn't have an existing member nearby.

Hello,

If I understand correctly, you have added trails in OSM, and you would like to add them in an existing "hiking route" relation ? Creating or modifying relations in ID editor is really not easy. You should use JOSM for that. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Guide

If you have only few trails, I can do that for you if you want :-)

Potlatch 3 also allows "add nearby relation by number" as well as "find relation by number" (to add one not currently nearby).
