I am managing a small art project. The project data is in a spreadsheet and I would like to display overlaid on a map. The markers could be emojis or anything else that is available.

Now it seems that all of the advice assumes that I have a website and want to make this publicly available. I don’t, I am perfectly happy just to store the information in a cloud storage provider and then call it up on a personal device. I am also quite happy to export the data into a CSV file after the project information has been updated.

So is there some sort of application that will work in the Apple ecosystem that can display and open street map with custom markers specified by a CSV file? If it has to be done via a web service that is groovy, but I don’t want to have to play around with JavaScript and host my own server and tile mill. I’m also perfectly happy to pay a modest amount of money for this service.

Hi David. Not sure how dynamically you want to update the csv file. But have a look at the uMap project. Free to use instances are listed on the linked page.

In uMap you can upload or link to data files and display markers on the map. You can chose to list or not list your map in the public map register. If only you know the URL only you will be able to see it.
