I am using OpenStreetMap for setting up base maps for orienteering maps for teaching orienteering, both in OCAD and OOM. I came across an address that is coming up in the wrong place in OpenStreetMap, while coming up correctly in everything else I checked (Google Earth, National Map viewer, Google Maps, Strava Heat Map). I was wondering why that is happening. Address: 3555 Victoria St N Shoreview, MN 55126, USA asked 10 Jun '20, 23:42 andreais |
A lot of addresses aren't yet placed on the map at all, especially in places where there is no open license data source for addresses (e.g., from a local government). If you have personal knowledge of an address, then it's pretty easy to edit the map to add it yourself: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Addresses Note though that if the only way you know the address is from those other maps you checked, then that's not information we can add to OSM legally. answered 11 Jun '20, 00:35 jtracey |
