I downloaded and installed on Mapsource an OSM World Routable Map of Turkey from the garmin.openstreetmap.nl site by Lambertus. Although the map detail is excellent for my purposes, the background colors of the land and ocean areas are the same which makes it difficult to distinguish the coastline. I also tried using the version with the mapnik.TYP file but that did not change the appearance of the coastline. Is there a .TYP file that can be used with this map or any other way that the map can be modified so that the ocean and land areas are different colors when viewed with Mapsource? |

Those OSM World Routable maps do not have polygons generated for the areas of sea, so the sea does show up as blue. I don't think a TYP file could change this. Whether to generate sea polygons is an option in Mkgmap, the software used to make most OSM Garmin maps. Some ready made maps use this option, others don't. You could try some of the other maps listed on Download, and see if any of them have sea areas. Or you can make the maps yourself, using Mkgmap. See for basic instructions: How to create a map. I recently had the same problem with the http://openmtbmap.org/ map of Turkey so the problem may be common to other map providers.
