Boundary or path? Not in map legend

0

What is this - the purple dash with purple highlight (which crosses the railway line?) 51.25549 -1.15242

I am not aware of a footpath which crosses the railway in this location (or if it exists, it's behind a locked door). Or perhaps it's a boundary. Either way, purple dashes aren't in the key.

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding something simple. New to OSM but really love it. Thanks!

Hi, From your reference point it's a boundary line. Different map renditions would use different colours for features so the colour would depend on the map.

For info, https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_Features#Boundary has a bit more info. There isn't a list of all the different boundary renderings there though.
