Can I hookup OpenStreetMap WMS to Tableau. If this is allowed has anyone done this. I believe to do this one needs to know the name of the server and its URL Please help asked 28 Aug '11, 15:33 Peter Wilford |
OpenStreetMap does not run a WMS. You can set up your own and fill it with OpenStreetMap data but that is not what you are asking. answered 28 Aug '11, 15:37 petschge I am new to this subject matter and your swift advise is really appreciated. Are you aware of anyone who has carried this out. Would appreciate you pointing me to the clearest set of instructions Regards Peter

Setting up a WMS and, most importantly, keeping its database current, is not exactly an easy task for beginners. But only a few days ago someone has published an easy to use package for Windows; maybe that helps.

Check out the Wiki page on WMS to see which third-party WMSes are available. All of them will work with Tableau. Some of them are free. Not all of them cover the whole world. Not all of them are ok for commercial use. answered 28 Aug '11, 16:51 Frederik Ramm ♦ |
