Getting this error message when trying to sharing an image by downloading it via the menu on openstreetmap.org: Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to render.openstreetmap.org because this web site requires a secure connection. render.openstreetmap.org has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site. Edit: steps shown: openstreetmap.org any location --> press share button --> select format: any --> select scale: any --> press download --> ERROR! asked 24 Mar '20, 10:52 Ash_PH SimonPoole ♦ |
According to the admins on IRC "should be fixed now". answered 24 Mar '20, 12:58 SomeoneElse ♦ The security error is fixed but I'm now getting a new error either saying Map too large, or a 504 error: Gateway Timeout The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application. Apache/2.4.29 (Ubuntu) Server at render.openstreetmap.org Port 443

At a guess, your new eror is likely just due to the servers being busy. If that is the case I'd suggest one of the usual workarounds such as "screenshot a browser and edit the result".

It works well for me now, with the scale as yours. You should try again.

Can you describe what URLs you were connected to and then what buttons you pressed on what order, so that people can reproduce it?
Edit: Thanks for the update. The relevant certificate has what looks like a valid alt name on it (render.openstreetmap.org), but it's self-signed (issued by "OpenStreetMap"), not by a 3rd-party trusted issuer.
