I am using the latest version of JOSM. After pressing B and entering two nodes JOSM generates a circle and not a rectangle. What is wrong?

You probably typed [ALT]+Z by mistake.

The building tool has several modes, one of which is aimed at circular buildings.

[CTRL]+[ALT]+B will open the preferences panel to switch back to rectangle mode. Alternatively you can use [ALT]+R or the corresponding item in the Data menu.

More information is available on the wiki.

Thank you. I have never used CTRL+ALT+B before. O and B were sufficient for me.

The 'auto-select building' preference is quite useful from more complex outlines as it allow multiple building sections to be drawn quickly with the same orientation.
