Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

We have an airstrip in the middle of town which was closed many years ago as part of the drug prohibition wars. The airstrip still exists and is listed as MX-0428 on ourairports.com. I currently have this mapped as aeroway=aerodrome. Since there is virtually no likelihood that this will ever be used as an airstrip again I think that this classification is inappropriate. Any thoughts about what to do with this feature?

Perhaps use the lifecycle prefix tagging. Change the aeroway= to disused:aeroway= or abandoned:aeroway=*
