I was using openstreetmap to check my activity on instagram and it says that I'm in a different city from the one I'm using it, why do you think so? Could it be a problem with the GPS?

Possibly, but it's more likely to be a problem with Instagram. Although they use OpenStreetMap data for some background maps, everything else in there is from Facebook/Instagram's own servers. You'll have to ask them why there is a problem.

Yours is not an isolated problem - OSM seems lots of people reporting problems like this, but because we have no control over the quality of the apps that Facebook/Instagram produce, we can't really help.
