How to deal with sidewalks ending only on one side of the road?

I have a road starting with a sidewalk on both sides. Then the sidewalk ends on the right, but continues on the left. What is the best way to deal with this information? Split the road in two and use the tag sidewalk:both at the beginning and sidewalk:left at the end? Thanks!
