When I go to Openstreetmap.org, or use one of the editors, then parts of the site are in language X and parts are in English. This is a bit confusing and I would like to help translate more into X and to make OpenStreetMap easier to use in my country. How can I do this? |

OpenStreetMap is already available in many languages, but more is always better and so any translation efforts are very welcome! For the main website and the two major editors, Potlatch and JOSM, it's easy to contribute translations. Many of the other tools in OpenStreetMap are also translatable. However, each tool uses their own translation mechanism and, as with most things in OpenStreetMap, there is no one central place to do this. You can find information about how to translate the various parts of the OpenStreetMap tool chain on the translation page in the wiki. A summary: The main website and Potlatch use translatewiki.net for translations. JOSM uses launchpad.net There you can also get statistics about how well each of the langugages have so far been translated. |
