As far as I understand, the default way to log in to is by using the credentials of one's account. However, I've noticed that depending on the password I've set on, login on won't work.

What thus are the criteria my password has to fullfill to also work on

(It seems there's some limit of how long the password may be for that, but what is it? And are there other limitations, e.g. what characters may occur in the password?)

Maybe I was wrong about there being a (significantly short) length limit. It seems though, while the password may contain spaces, it will not work on if it starts with a space.
