Is there some way to create a legend for my custom map in uMap? I have a custom map of medieval sites in Britain and Ireland that I will eventually share publicly. However, each layer uses a different custom symbol (castles, cathedrals, etc.) and within that are colors representing ownership of the site (red for English Heritage for example). I need a legend so people other than myself will understand the symbols. asked 30 Oct '19, 23:56 Parsa9 |
Hi, i think this option is not possible in umap. Sorry answered 31 Oct '19, 08:21 robibrazze |
You could embed the uMap in another web site and display the legend there. answered 31 Oct '19, 08:43 TZorn |
Inside the map, I would simply create a legend/key layer at the top level. This allows editors to access reference easily as well. answered 31 Oct '19, 09:04 Kovoschiz |

Hi! I came across this topic because I was also looking for ways to display hints in the map itself, like a legend. Embedding it on a web page and adding an external legend seems like the best option to me. But reading your question, I'm frankly curious how you solved it too. And besides, you describe a map that looks interesting for me to see! Can you share some of your chosen solution here? Cheers!
