Hi. I’m new here and have a basic question. I uses the RWGPS mobile app when cycling. RWGPS has OSM Cycle as a map option. I notice that there are many useful cycle map features in my area that are missing from OSM (new trails, bike shops, preferred routes used by locals). I’m willing to take time to learn how to edit and add these. But I can’t find a description of how these suggestions would actually make it to the “official” OSM map set seen by the public. How do I submit theses changes, who reviews, etc? I don’t want to waste time and have edits just disappear into cyberspace. Thanks. asked 20 Oct '19, 00:24 jskamelia |
Hi and also a warm welcome from me. Thanks that you want to contribute to the project. There are two aspects in your question. First you'd like to share your knowledge on objects like trails and bike shops. These are things we map in OSM and the web page Bernard mentioned is a good place to start. The other thing you mention are "preferred routes used by locals". What we map are marked routes, i. e. routes that ideally are signposted or at least described on information boards, printed maps or such. Such routes are for example shown on Waymarked Trails. We do not map personal route suggestions, just commonly used routes or any informal suggestions. There are plenty of other services on the web that do that job (and may or may not use an OSM map as background). answered 20 Oct '19, 19:40 TZorn |
