Customized rendering of existing layers

1

(Not sure I am using the right vocabulary. For example the layer selection on OSM homepage looks more like a rendering selection)

To plan a trip with someone who is very afraid of cars, I want to see a slightly modified version of the Cycle Map. I want to stop highlighting all the cycleway=*, and only highlight my own customized list (something like highway=cycleway or motor_vehicle=no, maybe cycleway=track, I need to experiment). Having cycleway=shared_lane or cycleway=lane highlighted in the default Cycle Map makes it unusable for this specific purpose.

Is there an easy way for me to do this (say, in less than 1 hours of work), or is any minor visible change actually requiring a lot of work?

A quick-and-dirty approach to just highlighting certain things is just to use the default map from overpass (that's literally just highlighting all cycleways).

Another option is umap.

Cycle map on OSM.org is a proprietary style, so you can ask the operator if changes are possible or maybe find some other cycle style.
