I don't know if this is within the realm of OSM, but I was wondering. I ran across a strange feature within a park's satellite imagery, and by deduction of the features seen, it must be for pets (did not make sense for people, definitely not for sport activity or parking). A web search confirmed the fact. Luckily, iD had a leisure=dog_park specifically for this landuse. Now I am not a pet owner, but suppose I wanted to find somewhere to exercise my imaginary dog. I tried searching for "dog park" but it only found name="dog park" but not leisure=dog_park - some people named their leisure=dog_park with name="dog park" and I found those ... How should I best tag these so that a pet owner could find these areas? And how should one really be searching for them? Again this could be outside the scope of mapping but just curious... |
If you're searching for a tag you could try Overpass turbo (which is linked from the wiki page template) and share that link, or do your own map using say Leaflet and an Overpass plugin 2
And using Overpass, you can make a map on umap: e.g. http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/nl/map/een-hondse-kaart_17687#12/51.1456/4.3861
