Hi,

I was on the last weeks at two congress about Operational Research. One of the current research topic is to integrate multiple delivery options within the delivery tours(see links 1, 2 and 3). I proposed to some speakers to use OSM data in order to generate realistic instances.

I've been looking since for the tags used in practice. It seems that some have been proposed but none is approved (see link 4) and those devices are, even badly tagged, rarely present in OSM database.

Am I correct in my statement. Is there any consensus on it ? And what can I do to help on this question ?

You can use taginfo to search for the usage of tags within OSM, for example like this.

When I looked at what people tagged this as a while back, I came up with the list here.

Thanks for the hint !

vending=parcel_pickup;parcel_mail_in is mainly used in germany, poland, russia and UK, a bit also worldwide.

amenity=post_pickup is mainly used in Paris. In french Vending, literally translated is only related to the act of selling, does this term have the same meaning in English or is it used more widely ?

Yes, in English "vending" just means "selling" (of physical goods or services). There are a number of examples of things in OSM where the "OSM meaning" isn't quite the same as the "British Englsh" meaning. "natural" is another such tag, and there are several others.
